The book of Luke is a Gospel that contains Narrative History, Genealogy, Sermons, Parables, and some Prophetic Oracles. The emphasis of Luke is Parables and contains more of them than any other Gospel (19 total). It is the third of the synoptic gospels. Luke, a doctor and a Greek Christian, wrote it circa 59-61 A.D. He accompanied Paul on mission journeys, as described in the book of Acts, which Luke also wrote. The key word in Luke is "Son of Man" which is used 80 times.
We are seeking parishioners who might consider being a sponsor or god- parent to one of the many adult candidates seeking the Sacraments of Initiation. Sponsors are the spiritual companions to adults who are already baptized, accompanying them until they complete their Sacraments of Initiation. Godparents are the spiritual companions for adults seeking Baptism, to walk with them along their spiritual path all their life.
And finally, in his recent encyclical Laudato Si, Pope Francis reminds us of the importance of having a thankful spirit and encourages us to incorporate this attitude into every moment of our lives.

Last weekend, our youth embarked on a road-trip adventure to spend a whole day at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia. On the itinerary, of course, was an afternoon full of roller coasters, selfies, and lots of tasty treats. Our main reason for the trip, however, was to experience an equally exciting gathering of thousands of Life Teen and EDGE youth for the biggest Catholic rally to be held inside the park yet!

Each year the Western Association of the Order of Malta goes on pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. As part of our mission to help the poor and the sick, we invite those who are sick, affectionately called Malades, to join us on pilgrimage.
