By now, I hope all parishioners are aware of the difficult staffing changes which had to be made to the parish staff effective July 1 in light of our budget situation. Our fiscal year starts July 1. Our Pastor, along with the advice and consent of the Finance Advisory Council created a balanced budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
This Saturday, the first Bishop of our Diocese, Most Reverend R. Pierre DuMaine, will celebrate 35 years of ordination as a Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. On June 29, 1978, he was ordained to the episcopate to serve as an auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. When Pope John Paul II created the new Diocese of San Jose in 1981, Bishop DuMaine was named its first shepherd. He served as our Bishop for over 18 years until he retired in 1999.
I wish to express my gratitude for the generous gift of service to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish to those members of our Parish Advisory Council who complete their term of office: Laura Chiu (Human Concerns); Hal Fletcher (Catechetical Ministries); Griselda Morales (Hispanic Ministry). I also wish to thank the departing member from our Finance Advisory Council whose term of office has ended: Mary Martinson.
If any parishioners are knowledgeable about options to record this weekly 90-minute sessions, please write to ebulletin@paloalotcatholic.org and we'll put you in touch with the right people! Thanks -- we're sure somewhere in the parish we have this knowledge
